Sounds like Michelle Todd's "Deep Fried Curried Perogies" will be one of this year's Fringe favourites.

Fringe play dabbles with issues of cultural identity and multiculturism
When Filipino/Jamaican actor/playwright Michelle Todd found herself pregnant with her Ukrainian boyfriend's baby, she started contemplating what kind of food she would send her future child off to class with, for multicultural celebrations at school. Hence the title: "Deep Fried Curried Perogies".
"It just dawned on me: my boyfriend's Ukrainian and British, and I'm Jamaican and Filipino. We're going to raise a Canadian… what the heck does that mean?" states Michelle Todd in her press release.

At once witty and poignant, the one-woman play, originally performed at the 2004 Edmonton Fringe Festival, will now be making its appearance in our fair city. In explaining what it's like to be a mixed-race kid in multicultural Canada, Michelle Todd illustrates that the resulting confusion is sometimes enough to render someone unable to figure out where they actually fit.

With cross-cultural marriages increasingly common and numerous young Canadians being raised in a mixture of ethnic realities, the questions and observations made by Michelle Todd are as relevant as they are entertaining.

Presented by Mahatmajama Productions, the "Edmonton Sun" called Deep Fried Curried Perogies "a one-woman show, a witty, poignant look at race and culture".

Deep Fried Curried Perogies will run at the Portuguese Association (4170 St. Urbain) during the Montreal Fringe, on Saturday, June 9, at 9:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 10, at 5:15 p.m., on Monday, June 11, at 9:15 p.m., on Wednesday, June 13, at 2:15 p.m., on Thursday, June 14, at 3:45 p.m., on Friday, June 15, at 8:45 p.m. and on Saturday, June 16, at 6:15 p.m. For more information and reviews, you can log on to: www.mahatmamajama.com
